Love story meets Love story

This is a fantastic mashup of Love Story by Taylor Swift ( Which I can't stand) and Viva La Vida by Coldplay ( which is so catchy, once you hear it you'll never forget it.) The composure has done brilliant job of taking to typical pop songs and making them into something beautiful. PLEASE watch this! The dancing piano man at the end is worth it :)

Breakup letter

Dear Rainy Weather,

This notification is in response the ridiculous amount of spring storms that have been experienced across the world in the past few weeks. I love you, I really do, but there comes a point in every relationship when both parties must go their separate ways. You and I reached this point three weeks ago.

The hassle you cause my friends and I is simply unacceptable, and I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that your not worth the trouble. My family hates you, My friends hate you, and My dog especially hates you. Your causing ruined shoes, runny noses, and frizzy hair, all of which are unnecessary complications in my life. Not only that, but the emotional strain your putting on me is unfair and selfish. What right have you to make the world dark and gloomy? What right have you to interrupt my valuable sleep cycles with loud noises and bright flashes of light? Wasn't it enough to waste my time with blizzards in the first three months of the year? Can't I have one month of nice warm sunny days? Your self-centered, and refuse to change. We're through. Forever.

You and I used to be so close, and I loved you more than any other weather, but that was before you changed. Your violent, and controlling nature have become more and more stifling and its time we split. Permanently

I hope we can still be friends, even if its a long distance relationship. I'm sure the Sahara Desert would be glad to provide a shoulder for you to cry on, but its time you left me well alone.

Please consider my request, if your obnoxious insistence to interrupt my life continues I will be forced to take legal action.

Have a nice day,

Mary Russell

Life thoughts 4/25/11

Favorite Quotes of Easter :

"Stitten Smicked and afflitted" ~ Mom, while talking about the timeless hymn " Stricken Smitten and Afflicted"
"My dog is named Cross!" - 5 year old during the Easter children's message.

Life thoughts for Monday: Friends are priceless.

And my personal favorite: “Best friends are like good bras; hard to find, supportive, comfortable, always lifts you up, never leaves you hanging, make you look great, and ALWAYS close to your heart.”

Thanks for being hard to find, supportive, comfortable, uplifting, and close to my heart :) I love you all.

Sopapillas!

Happy Easter!

I hope you had a truly wonderful day of quality family time, amazing food, and a joyful celebration of Christ's resurrection!

After giving up ice-cream for lent, dessert was the high point of my afternoon, and I want to share the recipe for an easy sweet snack that will leave your mouth watering for more.

Sopapillas:

Biscuits ( the kind that come in a tube)
Honey
Ice cream
cinnamon
sprinkles ( optional ;p)

Step 1: Pop open the biscuits and roll them out as flat as they will go
Step 2: Fry the biscuits in a pan of hot oil
Step 3: Scoop 2 scoops of ice cream on top of the fried biscuit
Step 4: Pour the honey over the ice cream and biscuit
Step 5: Sprinkle cinnamon and/or sprinkles on top
Step 6: Sink into a mouthful of heaven.

This recipe will leave you satisfied, but wanting more of the simple flavors. Ice cream and all :)

Love
Mary

"I find I always have to write something on a steamed mirror."

~Elaine Dundy

Well, lucky for you (or maybe not so lucky) I've been inspired by my dear friend Ulzii Hoyle to start a blog. Of course, it helps that I'm also extremely opinionated, stubborn, and feel the need to express myself to the world. After getting rid of my face book account because I felt that spending my time poking into other people's business was wasted, and failing to keep in touch by email, I figured, what could be better than a one sided conversation that I can control? Just kidding. Really. I"m kidding.

Seriously though, I hope I might bring you a few laughs, some ridiculously crazy ideas, and maybe a little bit of intelligent discussion( Never mind, scratch the last part. Just laughs and crazy ideas) You'll find everything, from books and movies, to current events and faith, to rants on goat farming and new recipes here, and I hope you'll enjoy it. Please send comments if you have time for my ramblings, and ignore me if you don't.

So to start out with: Its Holy Week, and Easter is on every one's mind. What most people don't realize however, is that before Happy Easter Morning, there's tragic Good Friday. Lent is a time in the church year that's often forgotten when the busyness of graduations, spring musicals, the end of school, March Madness, flowers, and warm air set in. However Lent is my favorite time of the year, and Good Friday has become my favorite service. You see, Good Friday isn't only about death, destruction, and darkness ( Like the gospel in 3-D. Okay, that was cheesy) but its rather about salvation and renewal. Good Friday is special because its not an end, but rather a beginning. Not despair, but hope. Not death, but life.

Don't forget the good Friday message while preparing for Easter. Jesus' seven last words are a beautiful message in themselves. Each mean something different to me, and never fail to give me the kick in the butt that I need. If you've never studied this part about the Crucifixion, I encourage you too, its one of the most beautiful and comforting parts of scripture.

Love,

Mary
